Sarat Kollimarla is a New Jersey based Immersive Designer, who works with emerging technologies such as Virtual Reality and 360 Video recordings to embed stories into environment, for passive as well interactive media, in real and virtual worlds.
As a student, Sarat was recognized for developing a first-of-its-kind 360 degree computer-generated space nebula experience at New York University - Center for Advanced Digital Applications (NYU CADA) that received various honors and accolades while also winning him the covetous Academic Excellence Award in Advanced Digital Applications.
Before transitioning into an Immersive Designer at Envrmnt, Verizon Labs, he was a Virtual Reality Research Fellow at Verizon Open Innovation where he developed a tool for content creators to analyze, optimize and monetize their 360 videos. Sarat has done extensive research in 360 video storytelling and also collaborated with Huffington Post RYOT- an immersive media company in LA to produce a 360 video with visual cues.
In 2016, he was featured in an interview of a dance drama entitled Padam in which his role as an editor received critical acclaim.
